55. walk 3 miles a day for one month

Scratching off another item from my 101!

The goal to walk {or run} 3 miles a day for one month turned out to be more difficult {motivationally speaking} than I expected but I finished my last walk earlier tonight.

April probably wasn’t the wisest month to attempt this goal, {hellooo, April showers and starting a new job}. Thankfully, I stuck it out and got it done… even if that meant walking four of the days at the mall, Target, my parents house, and our house {I never wanted to leave Target so bad}.

Overall, this was a great goal for me because it showed me how important moving every day is in helping me clear my head and giving me more energy.

Going forward, I plan on continuing 2 walks and 3 runs during my weekly schedule.

Do you prefer walking or running?

51. run 6 miles

At the end of February when I finished the Couch to 5k training that I began in January, I thought I’d use the momentum I had going to begin the Couch to 10k training.  My goals were to be complete all the training {3 scheduled workouts a week} and cross off one of my 101 in 1001 list, run 6 miles. Last week I completed both {and actually did the 6 miles 3 times}!

During the six week training, I walked/ran 86.89 miles, and also did an additional 27 miles of walking to hopefully meet my one of my April goals/101 in 1001 goals of walking 3 miles a day!  That’s 113.89 miles total!  This is the most consistently I’ve ever kept up with running {3 months, 8 days, and counting}.

For the final run of the training, Gary and I headed to the Augusta Canal Trail and did the trail 3 miles out and 3 miles back.

This was our first time running on this trail so it was a good way to end the training – especially since the course was flat and shaded in alot of areas.  The views, sunshine, and other runners also helped a little!

Augusta canal | Atwell Adventures 3I’m going to try to keep up with my 3 miles a day schedule and maybe do some longer runs on the weekend, but for now, I’m excited to rest a little!  And let’s not forget, I still have 10 miles and 13 miles that I want to accomplish on my 101 in 1001. {YIKES! What was I thinking?!}

ps – let’s give a big round of applause for G who did 6 miles twice last week without training.  #WhatAStud

drink up

Am I the only one that can’t/won’t drink enough water?

Sixteen ounces of coffee? No problem.  But put a cup of water in front of me and it will take me all day. {Now you know why I listed drink water minimum for 30 days on my 101 in 1001 – yes I actually consider that a chanllenge for me.}

I know how important water is – helps your body clear toxins, keeps you hydrated, clears up your skin – but for some reason I could never drink enough.

That was until I bought this.

Why a clear insulated cup and top with a plastic straw makes me want to drink more, I’ll never know.  But now I’m drinking my 72 ounces of water {that’s three glasses, people} without any problem.

Do you have any tips to drink more water?  You know, just in case I flake out in a few days.
