Monthly Goals

july 2014 goals

I always get excited when July 1 gets here.

To me, its kind of like January 1, minus the countdown.  I guess its because its the second half of the year, and is a good point to evaluate how your year is going, if you haven’t already.

There are somethings that I started at the beginning of the year that are working, somethings that have been edited, and somethings that have been removed all together.  I try not to get discouraged when I don’t do things perfectly, but rather learn from them, remember grace, and try again. Easier said than done sometimes, but I’m getting there.

Here’s how my June goals worked:

  • get out of bed by 6:30 on weekdays – Well, let’s just say I’ve got some work to do.
  • exercise for 45 minutes a day I did it! Woohoo!
  • drink 72 oz water a day After 3 months of trying, I’m finally hydrated!
  • run 40 miles Checky, check, check! I actually did 52!
  • sew a round tablecloth – Didn’t happen. The fear of breaking my sewing machine is still paralyzing me.
  • catch up on monthly reading – Still behind. Hopefully I’ll catch up during our upcoming travel adventures!
  • finish planning out one year anni and begin packing Only a few days until we’re on our way!

And here are my goals for July:

  • celebrate our one year anniversary
  • create a grateful list from our first year of marriage
  • take a picture on our anniversary {with and without a photo from our wedding day}
  • explore a new city

That’s it.  Not my typical to do list of monthly goals, but rather a month of celebration and expressing how gratitude for the gift of marriage to my sweet G.

Happy June!

Like I mentioned on Friday, I was very much looking forward to flipping the calendar to June.  Do you get excited when you see a blank calendar? Something about a clean slate is so refreshing!

May was a weird month with more than normal headaches, and with that everything just felt off.  On the bright side, I was able to host in our home, celebrate a friend’s baby, see family, make progress at work, in addition to hanging out with G and the rest of wife life.

Here’s a review on the May goals I set…

  • run three times a week, and walk two times a week – unfortunately, I can’t even say that I ran once every week. yikes…
  • organize closet, go through clothes, donate what I’m not wearing/using – I hate getting rid of clothes, but love the feeling after I get rid of them! Yay for progress!
  • hang curtains – they’re up but need some tweaking
  • be intentional with my time at home on Monday’s – somewhat improved, but not still needs progress – today has been great!
  • go back to only eating out once a week –  We ate out less, but are still working on this!
  • update budget once a week – Does anyone hear crickets chirping?
  • drink 72oz of water a day – nope. trying it again this month… third time is a charm, right? 😉
  • begin to plan for one year anni  – this is the goal I would say I we made the most progress! hotel and flights are booked!

See what I mean? May wasn’t my best.

So here we are on day two! Physically, I’m feeling better and recognizing that maybe my headaches could be linked to not being active.  Hopefully this month I’ll be able to tell!

Here are my June goals…

  • get out of bed by 6:30 on weekdays
  • exercise for 45 minutes a day {on my 101 in 1001 list}
  • drink 72 oz water a day {also on my 101 in 1001 list}
  • run 40 miles
  • sew a round tablecloth (ahhh! I’m scared, but I think I’ve found a great tutorial!}
  • catch up on monthly reading
  • finish planning out one year anni and begin packing

Some challenging goals for me, but hopefully I’ll be more productive this month.

may 2014 goals

My heads still spinning a little bit from April, but I’m finally picking up a routine of what to expect.  I’m excited about all the things we have going on in May – and its hard to believe that our one year anniversary is just around the corner.  I hope the summer heat decides to stay away for a little bit longer, or at least not be as intense.  Who am I kidding, I live in Georgia!

Onto May goals…

  • run three times a week, and walk two times a week
  • organize closet, go through clothes, donate what I’m not wearing/using
  • hang curtains
  • be intentional with my time at home on Monday’s
  • go back to only eating out once a week
  • update budget once a week
  • drink 72oz of water a day – let’s try this again!
  • begin to plan for one year anni

As for April goals, I didn’t get to cross off most things, however I feel good about improving overall in most of the areas.

  • drink 72 oz of coffee water a day {#46 on my 101 in 1001 list} – nope… the lowest amount I drank was 48oz which is an improvement overall, but still didn’t complete the goal
  • finish Couch to 10k {#51 on my list} Yay I did it!
  • walk or run 3 miles a day {#55 on my 101 in 1001 list} Just wrote about it last night!
  • use Kitchenaid Mixer once a week –  one of those being to make homemade bread I made the homemade bread, Easter cupcakes, a no bake cheesecake, and our weekly pizza dough. I didn’t use it once a week, but I’m starting to feel more comfortable using it.
  • host Sara’s baby shower – We decided to reschedule until after Baby Miles arrives!  Can’t wait for everyone to meet him!
  • stay on top of meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking – I’m going to give myself an A for Effort on this one, although I don’t consider it complete.  I did well on meal planning, grocery shopping, and even a little meal prepping on Monday’s, but there were two nights where we ate out during the week – something I’d like not to make a regular habit.

What are your May goals?
