A few minutes ago I finished my yearly goals for 2017 and monthly goals for this month.
In my ideal world these would have been finished by December 31, 2016 and this post would have been published on January 1, 2017, but instead I’m reminding myself PROGRESS, not PERFECTION.
(And I’ve set a reminder on my calendar for the future months to come. Here’s to hoping this will help 🙂 )
For a few years, I’ve followed along reading about Lara Casey’s Powersheets and for a while, I even did a homemade version of my own tending lists.
I decided to take the plunge and purchase the Powersheets this year and started working on them in mid-December. As I worked through them and prayed for this year – 2017, I was convicted in many areas of my life and realized steps I need to take to make the most of what I’ve been given – time, family, relationships, our home, resources, and my job.
While I hope to be able to accomplish my yearly goals (more on those in another post), I’m learning its less about checking them off a to-do list, and more about growing and making progress in the areas because to me, they are really things that matter.
For now, I’ll start off with my monthly goals that are stemming from the big picture of my yearly goals.
- make a list of 12 books for 2017 and read one of them
- create a hospitality guest list for 2017 and update meal organization list
- invite someone over for a meal
- remove work email from my phone
- read a book on gardening, remove dead plants from planters, and plant something new
- begin prepping for hosting a shower in March (specifically inspiration and invites)
- prepare for WLT teaching
- plan for Gary’s 30th birthday next month
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:12-17
Happy 2017!
