About Our Savior

easter 2014

Hello, little bunnies!

I hope you all celebrated yesterday – He Is Risen!

We kicked off Easter weekend at our church’s Good Friday service and then stayed for the Secret Church simulcast afterwards.  This was the first time Gary and I attended, and even though it was a late night, I was glad we went and left challenged by what I heard and learned.  I’m looking forward to reviewing our notes/book more in the days to come.

After we slept in on Saturday morning, I ran a few errands and then got in the kitchen to make some Easter treats for our friends Easter lunch on Sunday!  I saw some ideas for cupcakes on Pinterest and they were just as easy as they were cute! Win-win!

Yesterday we worshipped with our church and celebrated resurrection Sunday! What a privilege it is to be able to sing praises to our Lord and Savior for making a perfect sacrifice for us and then defeating the grave!

One of the songs we sang yesterday does a great job of giving praise, but I especially love the last verse:

Since from His bounty I receive
Such proofs of love divine
Had I a thousand hearts to give
Lord, they should all be Thine
A thousand men could not compose
A worthy song to bring
Yet Your love is a melody
Our hearts can’t help but sing!

Jesus, thank you for giving us a reason to sing!

1. become members of a church in our new home

Last October when I listed out my 101 in 1001, the first thing on my list was to become members of a church in our new home.

Now I’ll admit writing that out seems on a “to-do” list {especially in the first spot} might seem strange to some, but for us being active in a local, healthy church has always been important to us as individuals and now as a family.

When we began the process of finding a new church last September in North Carolina {before I wrote my 101}, we knew we were only going to be there a few months. Because of our short time, we made the decision that we would get involved in the church as much as possible but would wait until we knew where we would be in a few months before joining.  We were happy to find a church that helped us grow, held us accountable, and helped us in establishing community around us during our time together in North Carolina.

Fast forward to November when we found out we were moving to the Augusta area. We quickly started looking online for a new church. We knew that this being a more permanent move, we wanted to find a church that faithfully preached the Gospel, was apart of the community, challenged us to grow, and allow us to serve.

Thankfully, the Lord provided a church for us and we were able to visit our first weekend here in December.  After visiting the church for a month, learning more about it, meeting the pastors, and praying about our decision, we decided to take steps toward membership and now we are happy to call Berea Baptist Church our church home!

It’s only been a little over three months since our first time at Berea, but we are so thankful for the church family God has given us here and can’t wait serve and grow with them!

back to school for G

Gary is officially a student again!

This week G began online classes through Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Its something he has prayed and talked about doing since I’ve known him and I’m excited to be able to stand beside him as he begins this adventure.

As with anything new, I’m sure there will be challenges and adjustments to be made, so I’m praying that we both handle things like champs {and I’m praying mostly for myself in that area, the dramatic one in our marriage}.

I can’t wait to see how the Lord uses this in our lives!
