High Five for Friday

high five for friday

Hello friends!  June is off to a wonderful start and I’m happy to say hello to a weekend of running, housekeeping, thrifting, and kicking off the last month of our first year of marriage {tomorrow is our 11th month-a-versary}!

Here are my high fives for this week!

1. I was cleaning out our fridge last week and decided to mix up a little strawberry-carrot-apple treat! High five for a clean refrigerator and sweet rewards!

2. The other day I heard on the radio that Hulk Hogan was from Augusta. High five to the radio station for making me laugh with that fact!

3. We finally visited a drive in movie {more on that next week}. High five for unique date nights and a surprise double feature!

4. Gary picked up a weed-eater and I got busy on my day off. High five for small yards and the stress relief that comes from seeing progress made in a matter of minutes!

5. This morning I got a special delivery from G! High five for fresh hydrangeas in our house!

Hope you have a great weekend!

showering Baby C

I’ve mentioned a few times that we recently were able to “shower” one of our dear friends and her upcoming addition – Baby C!

It’s been so fun to see some of my best girl friends become mama’s, and this one was no different.  From singing Mariah Carey and dancing to BSB {that’s Backstreet Boys for all of you that are out of the 1990-2000’s loop}, we’ve come along way. I know she will be a fabulous mom – just like she’s always been a fabulous friend!

This is the first shower I’ve helped host from another city, so when we got ready to leave Friday night, I tried to assemble everything in boxes so it would be easy to move the morning of the shower.  Note to everyone: clear fishing line does not travel well. Lesson learned 🙂

We didn’t really have a theme, but we instead used different blue and green patterns! Who says little boy stuff is boring?

When the mama-to-be came down the stairs that morning, I couldn’t help but smile at the fact that she matched the napkins perfectly! What can I say, we both have good taste!

Because the shower was mid-morning, we decided to do a variety of brunch foods – cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, pigs in a blanket, grits, doughnut holes, and the favorite of the day – Tuck’s breakfast casserole.

To wash all that goodness down, we served a variety of juices and coffee.  Everything was delish! {But that’s coming from the girl who requested our wedding rehearsal be brunch – and had just that. Thanks Mom and Dad A!}Baby Boy Shower | Atwell Adventures.003

Baby C received lots of good gifts – and of course, it was only appropriate that she received this great diaper bag off of her registry – in blue stripes! Love it.

Such a fun morning celebrating this sweet friend!  So thankful for her and her friendship these last 19 years!  Can’t wait to see you and Alex as parents and meet our new little man!

Oh and I can’t leave without saying thanks to these two nerds for all the last minute help and listening to my requests on where to hang bunting. Bless them.

Monthly Goals

june 2014 goals

Happy June!

Like I mentioned on Friday, I was very much looking forward to flipping the calendar to June.  Do you get excited when you see a blank calendar? Something about a clean slate is so refreshing!

May was a weird month with more than normal headaches, and with that everything just felt off.  On the bright side, I was able to host in our home, celebrate a friend’s baby, see family, make progress at work, in addition to hanging out with G and the rest of wife life.

Here’s a review on the May goals I set…

  • run three times a week, and walk two times a week – unfortunately, I can’t even say that I ran once every week. yikes…
  • organize closet, go through clothes, donate what I’m not wearing/using – I hate getting rid of clothes, but love the feeling after I get rid of them! Yay for progress!
  • hang curtains – they’re up but need some tweaking
  • be intentional with my time at home on Monday’s – somewhat improved, but not still needs progress – today has been great!
  • go back to only eating out once a week –  We ate out less, but are still working on this!
  • update budget once a week – Does anyone hear crickets chirping?
  • drink 72oz of water a day – nope. trying it again this month… third time is a charm, right? 😉
  • begin to plan for one year anni  – this is the goal I would say I we made the most progress! hotel and flights are booked!

See what I mean? May wasn’t my best.

So here we are on day two! Physically, I’m feeling better and recognizing that maybe my headaches could be linked to not being active.  Hopefully this month I’ll be able to tell!

Here are my June goals…

  • get out of bed by 6:30 on weekdays
  • exercise for 45 minutes a day {on my 101 in 1001 list}
  • drink 72 oz water a day {also on my 101 in 1001 list}
  • run 40 miles
  • sew a round tablecloth (ahhh! I’m scared, but I think I’ve found a great tutorial!}
  • catch up on monthly reading
  • finish planning out one year anni and begin packing

Some challenging goals for me, but hopefully I’ll be more productive this month.

Do you have any June goals?
