High Five for Friday

high five for friday

It’s ten minutes until 7am and I’m trying to sip my coffee and sit as quietly as possible so that I don’t wake the eight children that we call nephews and nieces. They may or may have not gone to bed past their bedtime so surely they’ll sleep longer, right?

Ahhh yes, Atwell Nephew Niece Adventure weekend is finally here and in full swing as of yesterday at 3pm.

1. When we left for our mini road trip yesterday we couldn’t have been five minutes down the road when someone announced they needed to go to the bathroom. High five for being able to make not one, but TWO successful bathroom stops and for everyone making it back in the car!

2. As we were pulling into Augusta, we saw a rainbow! High five for a faithful God that always reminds us of His underserved goodness towards us! 3. With eight children occupying a townhouse that’s a little less than 1200 square feet you could say it’s a little crazy. High five for a husband that keeps a smile on his face!  4. Last night we were playing games and I honestly think I laughed more than the kids did. High five for laughter!

5. As I think about each of these little ones, I’m amazed at how our God knits us all together ultimately for His glory. High five for a God that loves them even more than I do!

I’ve missed a few weeks of high five-ing but tonight I’m back… mostly because I love being able to look back at the end of the year and see all the moments that made up our year.

This weekend will be full of celebrations and a lot of driving for us, but we’re excited and grateful we get to see and celebrate with so many we love!

Before heading to dreamland, here are the high fives for this week!

1. This past weekend we rented a cabin with some friends and were able to hike and raft while we were away. High five for outdoor adventures!   2. Plans for a nephew and niece visit are in the works. High five for invitations reaching their little hands this week!   3. On Tuesday, we celebrated two years! High five for 730 days with the best!   4. For our anniversary dinner, we went to a place in North Augusta’s Hammonds Ferry. High five for being able to finally explore the most beautiful neighborhood that looks straight out of a movie set!

5. Like I mentioned earlier, this weekend will be a full one for us – but filled with lots of sweet celebrations of people we love. High five for being able to cheer our friends and family on through life!

Happy weekend!

High Five for Friday

Oh what a beautiful day!  It may feel like its 100 degrees outside {I’m looking at you, Georgia humidity}, but sunshine is nice way to end the work week after the rain we’ve had.  Truth be told, I keep forgetting its summer, thanks to a messed up internal clock. Maybe one day I’ll remember what time of year it is without pausing for 5 seconds.

Clocks messed up or not, here are my high fives!

1. Last Saturday morning we finally were able to volunteer with Turn Back the Block. High five for being able to help our community in a practical way!

2. Sometime last week we started watching Friday Night Lights and sometime this week we finished the first season.  High five for making it through a whole season without crying! 😉

3. I finished my May book on studying the Bible …only a few days behind… and just started a new book about spiritual disciplines. High five for being really challenged to live a more disciplined spiritual life!

4. On Wednesday night we got to facetime with my newly turned 6 year old niece.  High five for cute nieces and nephews that always make us laugh!

5. Now that we’re back in our normal routine, our Friday night pizza tradition continues {going strong for about 100 weeks!}. High five for the mellow mushroom crust recipe we’re trying out tonight!

Hope you and yours have a great weekend!
