65. go to a drive-in movie

When I wrote my 101 in 1001 list last fall, I included going to a drive in movie.  I thought it would be fun to do something different, but little did I know that when we moved, there would be only 30 minutes away!

A few weekends ago, we ventured to Monetta, South Carolina to visit The Big Mo. Before the summer temperatures got to be to warm we wanted to check this one off the list and surprisingly, the weather was pretty perfect for this kind of activity.  I actually got to use the blankets I brought thanks to a nice little breeze we had most of the evening.

To prep for our mini-trip, I made popcorn at home and loaded blankets and pillows into the back of the SUV {many people brought lawn chairs instead of watching from their cars}.  We also picked up sandwiches from Fresh Market on our way out of Augusta.  A great little picnic for a drive-in!

Have you ever been to a drive in?

the time we got freaked out by our neighbors

Yesterday as I pulled in our little driveway, I noticed something: Gary moved our hanging flower baskets {that still don’t have flowers in them}!

I had thought to myself a few days before how I wished the baskets were a little more visible, but didn’t really know how to fix them without reinstalling hooks… which I wasn’t going to take on this week.

Apparently though, the hooks had been there the whole time and my husband decided to move them for me for a little ten month-a-versary treat.  Way to go, babe!

Except, he didn’t.

When I thanked him for moving them so that they were more obvious, he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about.

Now I will say, Gary has a pretty good poker face, but after asking him about 15 times if he really didn’t move them, I finally believed him.

And then was really freaked out that someone was at our doorstep, moving our baskets.

I took a picture to send to my family and explain the weird situation when I also noticed – they moved our wreath too!!!

Spring exterior 2014 | Atwell Adventures

Seriously, we must have the weirdest – and boldest – neighbors ever!

As we were driving away to dinner, I remembered reading on our community message board: “Pressure washing will be taking place May 5-10 in our neighborhood.  We will try to take care of anything that is on the exterior.”

Ohhhhhhhh.

So thank you, pressure washing company, for mildew-free siding, freaking us out for a few minutes, and for your exterior decorating updates.

How much do we owe you?

ten year high school reunion

It’s hard to believe that next month marks ten years (ahhh, TEN YEARS!) since I graduated with 49 classmates from Central Fellowship Christian Academy.

This past weekend we had a reunion dinner in Macon to mark the occasion!  It was great to see those that were able to attend, find out where they are and what they are doing, and meet husbands/wives and hear about children!

CFCA Class of 2004 - Ten - 1

Of course, going to the reunion, made me think back on where I was ten years ago. I knew I was going off to Georgia College and that I wanted to get my degree in Public Relations, but honestly I didn’t know what that would translate into post-college.  I was happy and excited about a new adventure, but didn’t know that the Lord would use college to change my faith from an idea to a personal relationship.

Whenever someone asks when I accepted Christ, I tell them that while I professed to be a Christian growing up {I accepted Christ as my Savior and Redeemer when I was in elementary school}, it was in college that my faith became more than words I said.

In college, I realized choosing Christ in everything had to be my choice – and my only choice.  There were plenty of options around me that didn’t involve a life with Christ and it wasn’t until I was taken out of my comfort zone that I realized how important this decision was.  It was then also, that I realized how thankful I was for the things my parents and school instilled in me growing up {having a personal relationship with Him, seeking the Lord in His Word and prayer, being involved in a local church, sharing with others about Him… thanks Mom and Dad}!

I’m thankful for the happiness I’ve found in knowing Christ personally and that these last ten years He has drawn me closer to Himself and given me a deeper understanding of how holy He is, and how undeserving I am of His grace.

So thankful for the Lord upholding my hand these last ten years!
