In the Kitchen

mixing it up – green smoothie

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I FINALLY used my Vitamix in January.

After having it for 3 months and being scared of the clean up process I took the plunge.

And you know what? It’s a BREEZE to clean up. Seriously. I’ve wasted months of not using this!

So to makeup for lost time, I told G that February was going to be my month of experimenting with my new BFF.

So far in January and February, I’ve made soup, peanut butter, and two smoothies – one of which I will tell you about today!

For my green smoothie {currently my favorite} I use the following recipe:

  • few slices of frozen peaches {they act as my “ice”}
  • an apple {cut into quarters}
  • an orange {peeled and cut into quarters}
  • a half of a banana
  • 1-2 cups of spinach
  • 10 ounces of cold water

And when I finish mixing it all together in my best friend Vitamix, I’m left with about 32 ounces of this green beauty.  It’s thicker than a juice, but the smoothest smoothie.

Do you have a favorite Vitamix recipe?  I’ve got lots of things on my list to try!

Around the House

a novel idea

You see what I did there?  A book pun. 😉 Moving on!

So remember that time G suggested we should put books on our new bookcase?  He was right.

It’s definitely more functional… and colorful.

And I still got to add a few of my favorite things – like my ceramic cow {which is actually a creamer dispenser #LOVE}.

a clean laundry room

Last month, one of my goals was to organize our laundry room.  To give you a reminder, it all started like this

And after removing the stuff from the shelves, hanging the letters I made, and doing a little organizing, it now looks like this.

While the upper shelves in the room are nice, having stuff on them makes the room darker than it already is.  Now its a little bit brighter and I actually don’t mind folding laundry in here.  Just kidding… it’s good but not THAT good 🙂

Everything else that I worked on was listed on the to do list on my original post.

  • move small bookshelf into the room for extra storage
  • move all laundry and cleaning supplies to bookshelf
  • move miscellaneous kitchen items on left shelf
  • setup over the door ironing board
  • adjust the way the dryer door swings open
  • purchase/make some type of art for the room
  • purchase glass jars for detergent and oxy clean

My favorite changes?  1) Swinging the dryer door the other way. Hooray for not having to fold myself over the door to get things in and out of the dryer! 2) The glass jars of detergent and oxy clean. These jars are my favorite! In fact, we have three more in our kitchen.

Just a few things to making a small space better!

ps – five points for anyone who can spot G’s underwear in this post! 😉
