In the Kitchen

new kitchen gadgets

A few weeks ago I was searching for hacks on how to make espresso in your coffee maker {spoiler alert: you really can’t}.

When we registered for our wedding, one of our dream items was a coffee/espresso machine.  Thankfully, everyone who gave us gift was wise and no one purchased the beast. Now I know the only place I would want one of those is a built in cabinet and I currently do not have built in cabinets.

So what was I to do? Keep on spending $3+ every time I wanted a latte? Fine by me! Nope.

So back to google searching.  I found this stovetop espresso maker and handheld milk frother – both which had good reviews.

Bialetti Moka Express | Atwell AdventuresAerolatte Handheld Milk Frother | Atwell Adventures Since we had a $40 wedding gift card to Pottery Barn, we decided to use it for these purchases {Williams Sonoma is a sister store}.  With the gift card, both of them combined only cost us $20. Score!

I’m still perfecting my latte skills, but so far I’m loving this alternative to my traditional coffee and cream.

ps – Does anyone know how much an actual espresso shot is? I have a feeling I’m drinking way more than normal. {Insert wide eye emoji here}

With Our Family

40 hours in macon

This past Thursday I made a quick trip to Macon {where most of my family lives} and like any quick trip to see 20 people, it was busy!

On Friday night I got to celebrate my niece Addie’s first birthday!  This little girl loves seeing herself in the camera, and I love seeing her love herself in the camera!

After carb-loading on pizza Friday night, some of us woke up Saturday morning for a 5k.  Clearly, we were the top five finishers.

And a 5k with family wouldn’t be complete without a post-run trip to Starbucks. {photo not included but just imagine a beautiful caramel macchiato’s with two of my four sisters} #TreatYoSelf

Before I drove back home on Saturday afternoon, the stars aligned and I got to see Sara! Sara and I worked together my last year in Macon, and although it was only a year, it was a big year in my life {dating G, engagement, wedding planning} and Sara was a “fabulous” friend through all that chaos.  This was the first time we’ve been able to see each other since July – and bonus – this was the first time to see her since her and her husband announced they were pregnant!

I love weekends like this 🙂 Thankful for family and friends that make life so sweet!

High Five for Friday

high five for friday

Waddup, Friday!

This is a late post for me so please excuse any weird expressions… It’s the sleepiness talking {or is it?}.

1. Yesterday I made my first solo trip to Macon. It was weird and sad not driving with Gary but thankfully, I’ll get to see him tomorrow afternoon!

2. Tonight we celebrated my sweet niece Addie’s 1st birthday! Happy Birthday, Adelyn!

3. Speaking of nieces {and nephews}, I got to see all nine of my little loves today! {And they all asked where G was. #Bless}

4. Tomorrow morning some of our family is running the Cantrell 5K. The last time I did this race, I walked it and pushed my niece in a stroller. Less than 200 yards into the race, she threw up. #Memories Here’s to more memories tomorrow, and hopefully none that involve throw up 🙂

5. Tomorrow I get to see Sara who happens to be one of the pregnant friends I mentioned last week! Can’t wait to see her and pat Baby Boy Mac!

Happy weekend!
