When you’re living in a rental, you may not always be able to change things. While it can be frustrating to not have my particular aesthetic playing throughout my home, it forces me to be creative with what I can work with – the layout of our furniture, the colors that we bring with our decor, and other ways I try to make our home feel just like that – a home.
Over the last few months I’ve started to key into what I really love, things like open spaces and natural light, and things I may not love so much, specifically tile floor and dark walls.
Use the time that you’ve been given to learn what you like!
I do the same thing girl! And thanks to Pinterest I find new ways all the time to decorate. Really wanting to try the fabric on the wall idea that I found!
I’ve thought about it too but the walls I’ve considered are so big it would be an $$$ project! I’d love to see if you do it though!
I want so badly to change things! We’re in a “no nail holes” agreement, which is tough! Apparently, I love wall shelves, because I want some super bad. But Command Strips have allowed me to hang pictures and whatnot, so that’s a win 🙂
I was going to recommend Command Strips when I first started reading your comment! 🙂 Would your landlord let you make the holes and fill them upon move out? It’s worth an ask!
We have wall shelves from Ikea (just two or three screws per shelf) and that prevents us from having to put more nail holes in the walls!
