16. take a photo on each anniversary – year two!

Yesterday we celebrated two years of marriage!

And I’m here to share that our tradition of taking a photo on our anniversary still stands – two for two! ha… great record, no?

Last year, we travelled to Portland so that’s where we took our first anniversary picture. This year we were in town so before dinner and dessert we stopped at the Augusta Riverwalk to take a few selfies. 🙂

The weather cooperated well, the sun didn’t make us squint too much, but close to the end of our takes, I was definitely starting to “glow”. How did we get married in July without melting?

So very thankful for the gift of marriage and who I get to spend it with!

a friendly competition

Things just got competitive in our house.

Actually that’s not true.  But we did fill out brackets for March Madness!

Gary’s got his money eyes on Florida, while I’m staying ever hopeful for Duke to win it all!

Did you fill out a bracket?

ps – Dear G, thanks for always entertaining my “let’s create a new tradition that we can do every year together”. You’re the best!

pss – the girly bracket is from hey, pretty! {although I definitely referenced G’s bracket for team records!}

leeward the elf

This past Sunday, December 1, we did something we’ve been talking about for a while… we bought an Elf on the Shelf!

While I realize that most people that use Elf on the Shelf have children under their roof, I always laugh when I see what the elves are doing.  If you don’t know what I’m talking about just look here

So Sunday after church we decided to adopt an elf of our own!

After we purchased him – we started talking about names.  We wanted to name him something that reminded us of our first home so after lots of ideas like Wilmy {for Wilmington}, Hampy {for Hampstead} and Pender {for Pender County}, we decided to go with the first street we lived on.

And Leeward the Elf was named.

G kicked us off by placing him on day 1 and we plan on just alternating days until Christmas Eve.

As silly as this is, it really has been fun and I’m excited to have Leeward the Elf in our home for many years to come.

Although, those eyes and that smile… so creepy 😉
