sour punch with a straw

Remember sour punch straws?

Those were are one of my favorite candies.

And if you’re like me, now your mouth is twisting at the thought of the sugary sour goodness.

Anyyyyways, when I was cooking up our fiesta-de-mayo on Monday, I decided to make a sour treat to go along with it!

After searching online for a few minutes for a recipe, most of them either had lots of sugar added {I prefer tart over sweet}, so I decided to just play around.

And you can’t really go wrong with fruits, can you? I had limes and clementines on hand, so I all I had to pick up were some strawberries at the market.

I squeezed six or seven small clementines oranges and a lime, and then added there juices to a 1/2 pint of strawberries and ice in my blender.

To make our glasses a little more festive, I wet the rim with lime juice and dipped them in a sugar/lime zest mix.

By the end of dinner, we had drank most of this sour punch, and what wasn’t finished off was gone about an hour later.

Good thing I didn’t add that extra sugar, right? 😉

Do you have any fruit combinations that you like to mix up?

cinco de jacko

¡Hola, mi amigos! Happy cinco de Mayo!

I love any holiday that encourages celebrating with chips and salsa, so celebrating we are!

In other news, Gary is thrilled that Jack Bauer is returning to television tonight.  He said this morning he couldn’t remember the last time he was looked forward to Monday.  I remember though…

{hint: it involved roses and 25 single women. Esssss okay, G, we all understand!}

Are you celebrating Cinco de Jacko?
