31 days – fall 2014 – opening your doors

Tonight we hosted our weekly home group from church.

This is the first semester we’ve hosted, and to be honest at first, I wasn’t sure if we should offer. Parking in our neighborhood can be tricky, and we’d never had more than seven people in our home at one time. In fact, we only have seats for 12 total!

But we put aside those small obstacles, and each week been it has been a joy to see our home so full.

Don’t wait until everything is perfect, just do.

31 days – fall 2014 – smells like home

I have a very sensitive nose. I’ve never been a huge perfume, candle, or air freshener person, that is until last fall.

One day we stopped by one of our friends house on our way back to North Carolina and I noticed that the most wonderful scent I’ve ever smelled in a home.

I remember asking her later what it was and she told me it was Yankee Candle’s Christmas Cookie candle. I’m not exactly sure why Christmas Cookie smells 100x better {or more pleasant} than any sugar cookie I’ve ever taken a whiff of, but it does, and I’m pretty sure anything we will ever call “home” – rental or property of our own – will forever smell like this candle. For me, something about it makes it feel more inviting and just like a home should feel, comfortable.

ps – If you come to our house and I forget to offer the cookies that you smell, don’t be disappointed. 🙂

31 days – fall 2014 – inexpensive art

I mentioned earlier this month our love for our hammer.

Because we have a good amount of wall space in our bedrooms, and high ceilings in our living room, filling them at first seemed a little overwhelming. But thanks to Goodwill, IKEA, and Books-A-Million, trying to do this hasn’t broken the bank.

What are ways iii use to fill wall space?
